I am a Freelance Television Consultant with over 40 years of experience specializing in video systems, system installations and engineering live television broadcasts for numerous sporting and non-sporting events. Credits primarily are for Technical Manager, Engineer in Charge, Satellite Engineer, Video, and E2 (maintenance).
I am also Chief Engineer for one of Atlanta's full power UHF television stations. I am the person that integrates and maintains the studio and transmitter plant. In 2011 we had a simple analog NTSC video plant. We updated the infrastructure to handle 3G SDI, and changed over the complete air operations to HD-SDI while launching two more feeds, all local origination. In 2013, we retired an analog component studio to make way for a modern 1080i HD production studio. In 2015, we replaced the existing SD-SDI equipment with HD-SDI equipment in Master Control to be able to broadcast in High Definition, all done in house. The following year, 2016, our second local origination channel was taken HD for over the air viewers. We added video streaming and video on demand for our internet based viewers and as of 2017 are broadcasting 90 minutes live weekdays via Facebook & YouTube. We have added OTT outlets such as AppleTV and Roku to name a few.
Some of my recent projects include working with Ramer & Associates on the installation of several Rohde & Schwarz NV7000, NV8000 and TM/HU-9 series ATSC transmitters, maintaining two Class A Digital TV stations and and 2 LPTV digital stations, totaling 18 Atlanta channels as of January, 2021. I also designed and integrated a new HD Master Control and transmission facility for Telemundo Atlanta, making it Atlanta's first fully HD Class A station. As part of the FCC auction and repack, I have worked with clients on FCC filings and certifications in order to be reimbursed for expenditures totaling well over a million dollars.
